I received a 1095-A and was paying for a marketplace plan from January - May of last year. I was also technically eligible for Medicaid throughout that time but did not apply for it until later in the year at which point I stopped paying for the ACA plan.
Do I still qualify for the Tax Credit for the first five months since I was not covered by Medicaid (even if perhaps it violates the spirit of the rules)?

No, you do not qualify for the Premium Tax Credit if you were eligible for Medicaid, unless the Marketplace had incorrectly told you that you were not eligible for Medicaid.
Yeah, that one is tough to discern since I'm not sure Healthcare.gov told me one way or the other, and the website does not allow you to see your complete history and application details unfortunately, only the final result. Anyways thanks for the info.
