Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

About halfway through filing, I got a page that said "Earlier you told us you owned a home in 2023" but I don't own and I don't remember saying I did. How do I fix it?

I don't own a home, I have roommates and we all share expenses. In the "My Info" steps, I put down my address, name, etc, then after I entered my W2's the page mentioned in the question came up, so I went back and looked carefully through every question I answered and nowhere in any section did it say that I said yes to owning property or paying property taxes. I don't know where I could've gone wrong but how do I fix it? I don't want to mess this up and have the IRS after me.

Do not worry about fixing this.  It is a prompt used only in TurboTax to make sure that everything applicable to you is entered.  It is not something that will be reported on your tax forms or to the IRS.

You may see other questions along the way about owning a home, such as asking for mortgage interest or property taxes.  You should be able to bypass these when they come up by saying you don't have these items to enter.
