$3000 Retired Public Safety Officer exclusion question/ not working

Its my understanding that the law changed and that the payments for health insurance no longer have to be paid by the pension provider. I get my pension through CALPERS and then have to pay for my own health insurance with my monthly pension. How do I apply for this when the system only will allow, if paid for by the pension administrator?

$3000 Retired Public Safety Officer exclusion question/ not working

In the interview for the 1099-R (pension), in the screens after you enter the data from the form, you will be asked if this pension was for a retired LEO (however they phrase it). If you say yes, then you will be asked how much you paid to the insurance company. This amount will appear as the difference (usually) between line 5a and 5b, and the letters PSO will appear on line 5a.
