300 deduction

I thought there was an option to claim $300 per filer deduction despite taking the standard deduction instead of itemizing for 2021. Is that not the case?

300 deduction

Yes, you can take an additional $300 per filer as a charitable contribution for cash contributions made to qualified charitable organizations for tax year 2021.  This applies if you are taking the standard deduction.  See the TurboTax FAQ I'm linking below.

 

Can I deduct donations to charity? 

 

The deduction will appear on Line 12b of your Form 1040.
