Virginia State Tax as a non-resident

In late January of 2023, I accepted a new job in Arizona.  I resigned my position in Texas.  At the time I had not found a new apartment in Arizona so did not have a forwarding address.  I gave my former employer my parents address in Virginia so that my 2023 W2 would be mailed there.  Unfortunately my former employer changed my state residence to Virginia in their payroll system.  They withheld Virginia state tax for my last few paychecks.  I have mailed in form 763-S to Virginia to try to recover that money.  What else do I need to do?

Virginia State Tax as a non-resident

For most states, you would need to file a non-resident return to show that you owed no tax to that state.

However, as you note, Virginia has a special form that allows you to avoid filing the complete return.

It looks like you have done what you were supposed to have done.

I would imagine that this is being held up by the bane of all tax processing everywhere - paper forms.
