I got a notice saying my Alabama state income tax filing was on hold:
AL_IIT_3.0 - Your tax return is on hold pending an EF version update. Please come back after March 31, 2022.
When I tried to e-file again after March 31, I get:
Check this Entry - AL FIT Wkst Part 2 Line 15. On Feb 23, 2022 Alabama passed legislation aimed at providing tax relief for Alabama taxpayers. The allowed federal income tax deduction will require calculations that factors in the federal child tax credit, the earned income tax credit and the federal child and dependent care tax credits. Alabama issued guidance for the revised calculations on March 18, 2022. We are diligently working to update these complex calculations. Please come back on April 7, 2022 to complete your return.
I've already e-filed my federal, and have paid to e-file my state, but have no confidence now that turbotax is going to resolve this issue in time for me to file my state return by the deadline. Does TurboTax have a solution, or should I just print off my state forms and mail them in? Will they be correct if I do that? Will they automatically be e-filed once turbotax finally resolves their problem?
I'm completely at a loss as to what to do next, and it is awfully late in the season to hire an accountant. It would be great if there were someone at TurboTax I could talk to and ask this question, but the automated "help"

Right now your best solution is to try to e-file the Alabama return again after April 7, 2022. Based on the message you shared, you will need to initiate the electronic filing. It will not be done automatically.
Electronic filing after April 7, 2022, is still well in advance of the filing deadline, and filing electronically will significantly shorten the time it takes to process your return versus mailing it in.
Based on Alabama having issued instructions in late March about how to handle the changes made by the Alabama legislation, it is likely that if you were to print and mail your return now that those Alabama changes would not be incorporated into the tax return. This would cause further delays for the state to process your return.
Dealing with the same issue. Don't understand why this "come back in a week" for this or this form keeps happening. Asking someone to wait until 11 days before the deadline is getting down to the wire here. I d prefer not to submit my taxes on the deadline date which will only result in longer wait times. I specifically chose TT to avoid issues like this.
AL issued the change during tax season and gave an automatic 6 month extension because they had to change their e-file system as well as the software companies.
See ARPA Tax Relief – Alabama Department of Revenue which states:
What types of Federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds might qualify me for an increased federal income tax deduction?
If you did not claim any of the above credits on your federal return, then you are not eligible for the enhanced Alabama Federal Income Tax Credit.
An automatic six-month extension is granted until October 17, 2022, for 2021 individual income tax returns. However, there is no extension for payments.
