Taxes paid in two different states

The basic guideline is that you should file taxes in every state that you earned money in.  Granted, some states don't have income tax, but you said that you had paid taxes in two states.  That indicates that you should file in both states.

Some things I don't know are:

  • Did you live in one state the whole time?
  • Did you live in one state and work in another?
  • Did you move and then work in the same state?

All of these make a difference and it will require you to provide more information.
