State Taxable Amount

On my CA State Return in "Pension and Annuity Adjustment" I need my "State Taxable Amount" for my Cal-PERS pension (1099-R) What box is that on 1099-R? No Box is labeled in that way.  Is it Box 14 (State distribution) which is blank? I get a Cal PERS Pension. Box 1 and 2a are Appx $36,000 but that's Federal Right?

State Taxable Amount

It depends, but apparently California also uses boxes 1 and 2a to help determine taxable distributions.  Please see this CA website that explains this in more detail:  http://www.calstrs.com/general-information/reading-your-form-1099-r
