I live in New Hampshire which does not have a state tax and therefore no return. But, I have to file/pay in Mass. I have both states downloaded in my system and have not efiled yet. I went in this morning and tried to efile Mass and it wanted me to pay for it. But, I haven't used my free one. What should I do?
How do I get it to use Mass as my free one?

It depends if you have any interest and dividend income exceeding certain thresholds whether there is a filing requirement. If you do not meet the New Hampshire filing requirement, delete the New Hampshire return and file Massachusetts as a Non-Resident.
When I click "Remove state return" only Mass shows up, there is nothing for NH.
That would be correct because NH does not have an income tax. Therefore, you do not have to file a tax return. The same is true for other "non income tax" states.
You can prepare the MA tax return for free, but there is a charge to e-file it. You can avoid the charge by printing and mailing your MA tax return.
