No, it is asking for an amount on a particular line. Your tax is calculated from the amount of taxable income, however, there are credits which can reduce your tax. On the 1040 the line would be 56. On a 1040A the line would be 37.

Hi there, do you by chance know which line this would be located from the 2018 form? Looks like things have changed on the form from 2017. Thank you!
