MN taxes due when income is below filing threshold for part time resident

I moved from FL to MN mid December.  MN says I don't have to file if my income WHILE LIVING IN MN is less than $12200.  I am retired  and actually received only about $3000 gross income in these two weeks.  TurboTax is telling me I owe $3 to MN.  WHY if I don't even have to file a MN return since my income is so low for the period I actually live here?  I have to use my Minnesota address in TurboTAx since my FL address is no longer valid

I recommend you just delete your Minnesota tax return.

You can delete your state return in TurboTax Online as long as you haven't paid or registered yet.

  1. Sign in and open your return if you don't already have it open.
  2. From the left menu, select State (if you don't see this menu, select the menu icon in the upper-left) and then select Continue on the Let's get your state taxes done right screen.
  3. On the Status of your state returns screen select Delete to the right of your state, then answer Yes.

If you don't see the option to delete your state (you'll probably see Edit instead), you've already paid your TurboTax fees (including the state fee) or registered your free version while the state was on your return. If you've done either of these things, you can't delete your state return.

Thanks.  I spoke to TurboTax support and TurboTax  should be telling me I do not have to file a MN return which it  is not doing.  So that is a problem with the software.  It also does not show that over 65 have a higher income threshold for not filing.  In addition,  it tells me I am not eligible for a rent credit but that may not be correct either.   I have the downloadable version which includes my State Return.
