Hi I’m a resident of North Carolina but all my jobs have been in Virginia so why is Carolina charging me state taxes?

You are required to pay tax in your resident state for all income. However, you should get a credit on your resident state return for taxes paid to other states. If you are a remote worker and your employer is located in Virginia, then you should only be having state tax withheld from your resident state. In this case, you should change your state withholding to North Carolina.
