2 w-2's

I received 2 W-2's from my employer. I was told it was because there are local taxes for KY that don't "fit" on one W-2. After searching online, it seemed as if I should enter the information from both, just adding an extra line for the extra info. It looks like it worked out fine for my federal tax return but when I go to the KY return the imported info makes it look like I made twice as much money as I did and I can't figure out how to change it because it was imported from the work I did on the federal form. How can I fix this situation?

2 w-2's

If your additional W-2 form is from the same employer, you should enter all of the information as if it was received on one W-2 Form, otherwise you will have issues electronically filing as well since it will appear to be a duplicate W-2 form with the same Employer Identification Number (EIN).

You can add extra lines on the input for the local taxes as follows:

To enter or edit your W-2 information, go to the Federal section of the program.

  1. Select Income & Expenses
  2. Select Job (W-2)
  3. Click Edit/Add to the right of the Job (W-2)
  4. Proceed to enter your information as prompted
  5. Once you get past the state information section of boxes 15-17, you will see the section for local taxes.  Be sure to select Add another locality to enter all of your local taxes as reported on the W-2 Forms.
