Missouri stae taxes

Just a comment to make Turbo Tax better: the state of Missouri will give up to a 50% credit for donations made to a food bank. You would think the software would pick that information up from the federal return and provide the necessary forms but it doesn't. I have to manually get the proper forms and fill them out and make the adjustments to the return. It's a confusing process and it prevents me from filing electronically. Please advise your programmers to fix this problem. Thank you.

If you are referring to the Missouri Food Pantry Tax Credit, the software cannot pick this up from the federal return because such a donation is not specifically identified on the federal return.

Instead, you are able to enter this on Missouri interview screen titled, "Choose the Tax Credit". It is done this way because Missouri has so many tax credits, that it would be difficult to list them all.

If you look at the Learn More link on that screen, you will see a reference to the Food Pantry Tax Credit, and the table allows you to identify the credit you are talking about as well as entering the amount eligible for the credit.
