Minnesota auto registration tax deduction broken?

Why does entering the registration fee on my first vehicle DECREASE my minnesota state tax refund? It does not matter which of three vehicles I use to enter. If I enter $179 on ANY vehicle, it decreases the refund by $156. If I enter $178 or lower, it is unchanged. If I enter $1000, my refund is decreased by $92.  adding registration fees to the second and third vehicle will increase my deduction but it is still less than if I do not declare any deductions.  Is this a bug?

Minnesota auto registration tax deduction broken?

How can I get help with this?  Still broken after an update.

Minnesota auto registration tax deduction broken?

I am still searching for a response.

Minnesota Schedule M1SA shows charitable deductions on line 18 whether or not an auto license tax is deducted. That result is supposed to be carried over to line 4 of form M1. If no car license tax is deducted, the amount is carried over.  However if one or more auto licensed tax is deducted, that amount does not appear on line 4 of form M1.  Please advise.

Why would deducting my auto license tax cause my charitable contributions to not be carried over AND my MN tax to increase?

I am not able to duplicate your situation. I have tried adding charity and adding vehicle tax with no changes as you mention to the MN. I have really spent time on this and it is not a problem with my software. I think your state return must have something stuck in it.

Please do these things:

  1. Delete the state (and maybe schedule A) form:
    1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
    2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools
    3. then select  Tools.
    4. In the pop-up window named Tool Center,
    5. choose Delete a form.
    6. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.
  2. Log out of your return.
  3. Try one or more of the following:
  4. Log back into your return.
  5. Enter the form again.
