I received a letter from the State stating, "Your Tier 3 Michigan Standard Deduction has been adjusted. This deduction must be reduced by any amounts listed on lines 11 and 14 of your Michigan Schedule 1, as well as the amounts on lines 9a and 9d of your MI-1040." After rerunning TurboTax for Michigan, my tax owed increased, but not to the extent the State calculated. The State's calculation significantly raised my tax and lowered my refund, a result not reflected in TurboTax's figures. I'm puzzled by the discrepancies and why TurboTax's calculations don't align with the State's declaration. With 60 days to appeal, I'm uncertain about the grounds of my appeal.
