@shaunhamilton87 assuming what you are talking about is I-131, which grants you permission to stay abroad for up to 2 (?) years without having to enter US , then since your Green card is valid during this period, your tax status is also retained as a US person. Thus for the year 2020, 2021 , 2022, 2023 and 2024 you are a Resident for Tax Purposes and taxed on your world income by the US.
If your I-131 is not valid and you have not entered US at least once a year, then your GreenCard is considered abandoned and your tax status may become Non-Resident ( and taxed by the US ONLY on your US sourced income ).
Does this make sense ?
Is there more I can do for you ?
