My wife and I lived in Michigan through July 2023, and I worked remotely for a Utah-based company. In August, my wife and I moved to a rented home in Utah while still maintaining our permanent residence in Michigan. I am now filing as a full-time resident in Michigan, with her being part-time in both States.
The questions on TurboTax that are stumping me are:
"Amount of Double-Taxed Income while a Utah resident"
and
"Tax paid to Michigan on Double-Taxed Income"
How do I know what tax was paid to Michigan, if I haven't filed yet? Is this asking for taxed paid in tax year 2022? If not, and it's asking about 2023, how can I view that information to enter it? I would think TurboTax would have this information automatically since I'm filing for both States using the TurboTax online product, but it won't even let me view the Michigan State tax return until after Utah State is filed. So how can I determine the amount to input on the Utah State tax return?
