How do i submit my state taxes without federal taxes

I am in California in a domestic partnership and I need to submit my state taxes together with my partner and federal individual. How do I do this? This year TT seems different from last year.

How can I tell if my taxes were filed. I paid on April 7 and have a print out but I don't see a confirmation for my federal only my state.
