How do I stop the Connecticut return software malfunction when entering credits for taxes paid on income taxes to other states - it keeps defaulting to New York?

When I enter data for multiple states to which I paid income taxes, while doing my Connecticut return, although I select a state from the drop down menu, it keeps changing it when I click Done to New York and creating endless errors.
