Yes, you should get that on your Georgia state tax return. The exclusion is limited to $17,500 or the total of your taxable military income, whichever is less.
There's a check box for it early in the state interview. Here's how to find it:
- Sign in to your TurboTax account.
- Select State Taxes, then Your State Returns.
- Select Edit to the right of Georgia.
- Continue through the return until your get to Here's the income that Georgia handles differently.
- Select Start to the right of Retirement Income Exclusion/ Military Retirement Exclusion.
- You will see a screen with both of your names and all of your 1099-R income. Check the boxes under your husband's name to indicate which pensions qualify for the exclusion.
- Select Continue.
