Do I need to say I was a part-year resident in California if I was there for college? I did get a DL and Registered my car there for 6 months, but back in Colorado.

I grew up in Colorado, in 2023, went to college in California for 6 months.  I know in general that would not make me a resident in California, but I did get a DL and Registered my car there.  I only worked in Colorado in 2023, not in California while I went to school.

If you had no California income you don’t have to file a California return

Understand I don't have to pay taxes, but more about would I be a resident of California for 6 months because I had a DL and registered a car in California.

No, you’re not a California resident.
