Confused in splitting the income between two states?

I lived in Indiana for starting 3 months than moved to CA. I will be filing as non-resident for both states? Can I use the W-2 box16 directly to calculate the state income tax? Which state do I file first or it doesn't matter?

Why my IN and CA total state tax income from W-2 box 16 is also not matching the box 1of W-2

You are a part-year resident of each state. You need to indicate that with the dates of your move in the personal info section. Let the program calculate your taxable income and tax for each state.

@ColeenD3 Program is asking me to enter the amount that I earned while in a state out of total W-2s adjusted income.

Please check the link below to allocate your earned income (comes from employment, such as wages, salaries, tips, payment for services, and commissions) between the 2 states.

How do I allocate (split) income for a part-year state return?
