Community Property State Question

Hi,

Under the "married filing separately adjustments" there is a community property addition and subtraction adjustment. There is also a note that says "do not many any adjustments if you are filing separately on the Federal return."

My husband and I are filing separately this year for taxes, both federal and state. Therefore, would I leave this section blank and move on? Do I need to fill out any additional forms for community property, or is this satisfied because I have entered all of my other tax information?

Thank you.

Community Property State Question

Yes, you would leave that section blank.  When you file a joint federal return but separate state returns in a community property state there are usually adjustments that need to be made to federal income on the state return.  But when you file separate on both, the adjustments are already reflected on the  federal return.  There are no additional "community property" forms you need to file, nor additional information you need to report.
