Am I Considered a California Resident?
I was a California resident most of my life. However, I sold my possession including house and have not stepped foot in the state in over 5 years. I have, however used my brother's address as my mailing address for all official correspondence such as social security etc. I also have a bank account in the state. I earn no income except SS. I pay 0 federal taxes. I am pretty much a vagabond at this point and spent most of my time out of the USA.
Given the information above, am I required to file California income taxes? Thank you in advance for you help!

Am I Considered a California Resident?
If you are no longer domiciled in California and you have not been present in the state for over 5 years, then no, you are no longer a resident of California.
As a non-resident. you would have a tax obligation to California only if you had California-sourced income.
