Statement A - QBI Pass Through Entity Reporting: Requiring an EIN for a shareholder who does not have an EIN. HELP

@walmj @tlieuran

We have tested transferring prior year K-1 data but are unable to reproduce the experience you have seen. It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2021" file to test further.

If you would be willing to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information, here are the instructions:

Go to Online in the TurboTax Business header.

  1. Choose Send Tax File to Agent.
  2. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click Send on this screen and wait for the Token number to appear.
  3. Reply to this thread with your Token number.

This diagnostic copy (numbers only; no personal info) of your tax file will allow us to see the same experience you are having. If we are able to determine the cause, we'll reply here and provide you with a resolution.

Statement A - QBI Pass Through Entity Reporting: Requiring an EIN for a shareholder who does not have an EIN. HELP

Thanks Patricia,

I just sent my file - my token number is 919415.

I did update TurboTax with the latest updates from Feb 10 and tried to file again but the same problem. I had called Intuit and they had told me the problem would be fixed in the Feb 10 updates.

My email address is [email address removed] in case you need to reach me.

Thanks,

I am encountering the same issue. Let me know if you need another sample file to help debug.

I have exactly the same issue. I have not tried redoing the taxes from scratch. Hope there is a fix for Turbotax

Statement A - QBI Pass Through Entity Reporting: Requiring an EIN for a shareholder who does not have an EIN. HELP

I had the same issue on my return.  After spending hours trying everything recommended and that I could think of, I ended up deleting the return and completing a new return.  It worked correctly the second time.

I am having the same exact problem.  Form 1120S Statement A - QBI Pass-through Entity Reporting has an error, needs a Shareholder's EIN but its formatted as a Corporate EIN XX-XXXXXXX.  Then if I enter my Corporate EIN it asks for a Shareholder's Name and you can't fill anything into the field.

Please update Turbo Tax and fix this so I can file my return.  I'd rather not try to delete and redo it, I assume upon checking for errors again the same problem will occur.

You might want to follow the instructions in the post (above by @PatriciaV) with respect to reporting a possible bug in the program.

I think I found a work around, goto forms, delete 199 Wrk Sheet. Save the file. Run the Check Errors again, you should not see any errors. Now go back to the forms section, in the top Select Open Forms, Select 199 Wrk Sheet (would be under 1020S forms). Reneter the information for the worksheet. Rerun the error and it should work.

Statement A - QBI Pass Through Entity Reporting: Requiring an EIN for a shareholder who does not have an EIN. HELP

@walmj

Due to the removal of personal information (including EIN/SSN) during the process of creating a diagnostic file, we are unable to replicate your experience entering/updating shareholder information for Statement A.

However, @sktrip presents an excellent work-around that may be a good solution for you:

I think I found a work around, goto forms, delete 199 Wrk Sheet. Save the file. Run the Check Errors again, you should not see any errors. Now go back to the forms section, in the top Select Open Forms, Select 199 Wrk Sheet (would be under 1020S forms). Reneter the information for the worksheet. Rerun the error and it should work.
