Self-employed health insurance deduction goes on Schedule 1 line 17 (which goes to 1040 line 10), as long as the expense is not greater than your net self-employment income. If it does exceed your net self-employment income it gets split automatically. An amount equal to your net self-employment income goes on Schedule 1 and the remainder gets added in to medical expenses on Schedule A. It will not reduce any

Form 7206 - Is this how I file for the Self-Employed Health Insurance deduction?

If you are self-employed and paid for health insurance, you can report this under Business Expenses for Schedule C. In most versions of TurboTax, the entry is made under "All other expenses."

 

After you make this entry, TurboTax will create the necessary forms to calculate and report your deductions and credits related to this expense, including Form 7206.

 

The amount of your deduction will appear on Schedule 1 Line 17.
