I made multiple attempts to import data from the 2022 TT file on my computer to the 2023 return. I used the same software and same I-Mac as last year. In the end, only a small amount of data carried over and there was one instance in which the data was duplicated. TT specialists offered no solution. It was suggested that I fill in the information manually. Then it was necessary to check on each amount listed on my 2023 form to make certain there was no contamination resulting from this hybrid import. .
There is another problem with the 2024 Premier Desktop. Certain file versions cannot be imported into TT. Prime examples are tax packages which involve k-1 information listed on a website for multiple companies. The exported k-1 file cannot be entered into TT. The file appears blank in FINDER with an error message that the file is of the wrong year or has some other problem which disallows the transfer. It is not clear whether TT has to revise the software or that the download needs to be modified at its source .
