When I have made purchase and used a credit card, do I claim that amount upfront ? OR when I pay the payments towards that purchase?

Example I purchase a computer on a credit card, do I claim that upfront or do I claim my monthly payments towards that purchase? I use quickbooks and it puts payments a catagory as an expense

For tax purposes, when an expense is paid with a credit card it is considered to be paid on the date the charge is made instead of when you make payments to the credit card company.  The payments to the credit card company would not be deducted as an expense, except for the amount of the payment that was a finance charge.
