What if box 12 and 14 are reporting the same thing? Group retirement

Are you referring to boxes 12 and 14 on a W-2? If so, what is the code for the entry in box 12? I don't know exactly what you mean by "group retirement." There is no code for "group retirement" in box 12 of a W-2. What is the code or abbreviation in box 14? Are the amounts the same?

I suggest that you ask your employer why the information is entered in two places. There might be a distinction between them, or it might have something to do with your state taxes. What state are you in? If it is really a duplicate entry, when you enter it in box 14 you can select the category "Other (not classified)." Then it will not be used for anything and will not affect your tax return. Or you can just omit the box 14 entry.
