What happens if I were to submit my tax return, then open a Roth IRA prior to April 18th, 2017? Do I need to submit a refund form to claim this deduction?

ROTH IRA contributions are not deductible.

Does that mean that if from between submitting my Tax Return and April 18th, 2016 that I open up a Roth IRA that I don't need to submit any more documents for my 2016 taxes?
