When following the guidance in the How do I enter a backdoor Roth IRA conversion article, the bottom section for "If your conversation contains contributions made in 2023 for 2022" is relevant to my situation. When I enter the basis value on line 14 of last year's Form 8606, I am asked to attach an explanation as to why "The IRA basis we (TurboTax) transferred from 2022 is different from the basis entered."
What other number could TurboTax be importing here that doesn't match line 14 from my 2022 Form 8606?
I've used TurboTax for almost a decade and am really struggling with the method they've chosen for entering backdoor Roths this year.

Yes, you will enter the basis from your 2022 Form 8606 line 14 when TurboTax is asking about the basis during the retirement section interview.
Generally, TurboTax should have carried over the amount from your 2022 Form 8606 line 14. What number did TurboTax show as a basis before you entered the amount from your 2022 Form 8606 line 14?
