Tell us the value of your Traditional IRA

The "Tell us the value of your Traditional IRA" screen on the 2018 tax year Turbo Tax (TT) asks for the value of your IRA account on December 31, 2018. Is this the correct year? Should it be December 31, 2017? TT appeared to do the tax calculation based on this number. The RMD and thus the tax due for 2018 is based on the value the IRA on December 31, 2017 so the year appears to be incorrect. I have used TT for many years and this is the  first year I have done an RMD (or any other) withdrawal from my IRA and have never entered the value of my IRA before.

No, December 31, 2018 is correct.

Tell us the value of your Traditional IRA

This question being asked by TurboTax has nothing to do with RMDs.  TurboTax does not calculate RMDs.
