Hi, I have a question about the first stimulus check from earlier this year. I did not work in 2018. However, at the time, right after it was approved and before they began to process the payments, several family members urged me to file a tax return regardless (this was before they had the option for non filers I believe). I basically only reported the interest I earned from my bank account. I was not claimed as a dependent and I indicated that on my return. My return was accepted in late March. As of now, late August, I have not received a payment, and when I enter my info on Get My Payment, it says my payment status is unavailable either because it hasn't been processed (after 5 months?) or because I'm not eligible (which I should be). I am wondering what this is about, and if they're just slow for some reason and to wait, or if I should file for an appeal. However, I wouldn't even know where to submit it because I haven't received any mail from the IRS pertaining to this. I need the money because my hours this year were cut by a lot due to the virus, and I really don't know how to address this.
