Your pension income is not taxable in New York State when it is paid by: New York State or local government. the federal government, including Social Security benefits. certain public authorities.
In the NY interview, click on 'Received Retirement Income' on the page titled 'Changes to Federal Income'. On the next page, Retirement Income Summary, UPDATE your military retirement, and verify that the NY taxable amount shows as $0 on the next screen.
