Why would a taxable income show $0 ?

If you make less than the amount of the Standard Deduction for your filing status you do not owe any Federal Tax so your taxable income would be $0.

The Standard Deduction for 2019 is

  • Single $12,200
  • Head of Household $18,350
  • Married Filing Joint $24,400
