you will never get a 1099-R for a contribution to your IRA.

Tell TurboTax you made a contribution.

that's under Deductions, not Income.

if you are sending by mail you could have a problem. It must be entered by the custodian by May 17.

Visit a branch office or make an online deposit into your IRA.
