Can i enter 1099-R without tracking id?

@ dparnell9244  asked:  "Can i enter 1099-R without tracking id?"

I don't know the context of your question and what you mean by tracking ID.  Is that a number you were provided if you wish to import the info from the Payer's website?  Are you asking how to enter a 1099-R manually without importing it?

If that's not your issue, then you need to explain more.

If you're simply asking how to enter the 1099-R manually, here's how:

If you already know how to get to the 1099-R interview,  you can skip these first few steps.   Otherwise, here's how to get to the 1099-R interview:

With your return open, click on the Search button at the top of the screen.

In the Search line enter 1099-R without quotes and click the adjacent magnifying glass.  (NOTE: Do NOT choose anything suggested in the dropdown list; use the magnifying glass.)

Click on "Jump to 1099-R".

First screen will ask:  "Did you receive any 1099-R forms?"

The next screen will say:  "Let's import your tax info".

If you wish to enter it manually, do NOT enter anything in the institution search line.  Leave it blank, and do NOT click on any logos.

Instead scroll down on that screen, and at the lower right there is a gray button "I'll type it in myself."   Click that.

Next screen:  "Tell us which 1099-R you have."    Select the correct type.

After you enter the 1099-R data, there are likely some followup questions.  Continue answering all the screens in that section.
