On 1099r box 2b is checked who determines the taxable amount, with a taxable amount in box 2a?

On my 1099-r form box 2a has a taxable amount, and box 2b is checked with "taxable amount not determined". Does free turbotax support this in calculating my taxable amount?

Yes - TurboTax Free will calculate the tax amount of your distribution.  Just enter the amounts as they appear on the 1099-R.  It is actually very common for a broker/administrator to check the box "taxable amount not determined," whether or not there is an amount in box 2b.

You don't have to determine on your own the taxable amount, TurboTax will help you with this.  However, you do have to enter each form 1099-R into the program exactly as it appears - do not make any changes to any of the boxes. Be sure to enter each 1099-R individually; the program will ask you additional questions about each of them.  Based on your 1099-R data entry the follow up answers that the program asked you - taxable amount will be determined.
