None of the spouses (married filing jointly) had work retirement contributions in 2018. Why only one spouse's IRA contribution of $5.500 is deductible?

Why is 2nd spouse's IRA contribution of $5.500 considered nondeductible?

Do any of the W2s show a mark in box 13 Ret. Plan? If not make sure your input does not include a yes in box 13. If the W2 is marked yes in error, contact the company payroll preparer for a corrected W2.

Thank you! The employer placed the mark by mistake!
