Since it is over $1100 and he is a dependent on your return, it does have to be reported, but you can opt to report it on your tax return instead of filing a separate return for him. To do that,
- Sign in to TurboTax and open or continue your return.
- Search for child income and select the Jump to link.
- We'll ask a series of questions to determine if their income needs to be reported on a tax return (it does). You can report it on your return or their return.
Note: If the child's income is $12,200 or more, it must be on the child's tax return. It can't be included in the parents' tax return.
