Line 5a and 5b are backwards when I view my return and I don’t know how to fix this through the turbo tax questions. It is so much more confusing this year.

Line 5a is the distribution amount and 5b is the taxable amount. TurboTax will use your Form 1099-R entry and follow-up questions to determine what is entered in these fields.

Please be aware, fully taxable distributions are to be included only on line 5b, not on line 5a (1040 Instructions). Therefore, 5b can be greater than 5a in some cases.
