You cannot file a tax return for the United States without your spouse having a Social Security Number or an ITIN.

You need to apply for one of these to file your taxes.

This year your personal tax return is not due until July 15, 2020.  If for some reason you do not have one of these numbers for your spouse by then, you can file an extension for your tax return, until October 15, 2020.

If you file an extension and have an amount due, that amount due needs to be paid by July 15, 2020.

How do I apply for an ITIN?

Application for Social Security Card
