If I got this: 1099-R is part of your return, and that's just one of the reasons the IRS requires you to file Form 1040. TurboTax Free Ed does not cover this situation.

Free has never supported a 1099-R that has an early distribution penalty that must be reported on a 5329 form and 1040 line 59.

That requires forms and schedules not supported by the one page 1040 form.
