I received an academic research grant. How do I enter it as non-taxable?

It is likely taxable income, although it is not considered "self-employment" so you should not be filing a schedule C or paying self-employment tax. Can you tell us more about the grant and what tax forms you received?

Where can I input nontaxable income such as VA disability payments received? I realize it is not required, but it's 50k that could boost the sales tax deduction.
