I inadvertently added an unemployment check for 2021 when it was dated 2022. Now my 1099-G for 2022 is also including that amount. What do I do?

Can I reduce the 1099 G amount for 2022 since I claimed it in 2021 taxes?

You'll need to amend your 2021 tax return to remove the 2022 income that should not have been reported there and include the income on your 2022 tax return.

No. You need to report all payments received in 2022 on your 2022 return.

However, you can amend your 2021 to change the amount reported on 2021 return.

How do I amend my federal tax return for a prior year?
