I am age 62. i get a retirement check each month which totals 20,000. must i pay tax on that amount because of my age?

In most cases retirement funds are taxable regardless of age. If you made post tax contributions some part of the payments may not be taxable.

Age is not a factor. Your income is equally taxable no matter what your age is.
