How do I get TurboTax to not apply my wife's Teachers Retirement system to our income as Alabama doesn't tax defined benfit plan didtributions?

When you go through the Alabama return, look for the screen that says Let's see how AL handles income differently.   On that page, scroll down to retirement income and go through that section to exclude federal income from Alabama.
