How do I claim a liquidated mutual fund distribution in which I didn't incur any penalties and fed taxes were paid? software assumes I withdrew from my fund.

I received a small fund liquidation payout.  I have a R-1099 that shows fed taxes were paid.  I did not reinvest this money but there were no penalties since it was liquidated, I did not request this payout.  I do not know how to claim this, the questions I am being asked do not apply to my situation.

Since you received a 1099-R, may I assume that this was some sort of retirement account? If so, what kind?

How old were you on December 31, 2019?

Since you would generally treat such a distribution as if you requested the withdrawal, without knowing more about your situation, I would say that most of these questions do apply to you. Answer them as if you had requested the payout.

And let us know what kind of account it was and your age.
