Do I need to refile my federal return if I am amending my 2016 state taxes because my exempt teacher retirement income was taxed by the state.
My federal return did not change when I amended my state return due to the state taxing my exempt teacher retirement income. Do I need to refile my federal return also?

No, you do not need to file an amended federal return as the change does not affect your federal taxes.
